چکیده

We introduce a transport-independent mechanism for network-wide fair bandwidth allocation in the Internet based on a natural hierarchy of authorities. With our proposed approach, routers identify a dynamic set of so-called fluxes derived form descriptors (ranks) disseminated in the network in a hierarchical fashion. The scheme assumes no particular implementation of the sessions contributing to the fluxes: cooperation is simply in their best interest, as otherwise, their received bandwidth will be below the attainable fair share. We illustrate the behavior of our mechanism in a simulated environment and argue about its potential to solve many QoS problems that traditionally have been associated with call admission.

Bandwidth Allocation and QoS Routing for Heterogeneous Networks

We present a bandwidth allocation scheme offering optimal solutions to the network optimization problem. The bandwidth allocation policy in class-based networks can be defined with the proportionally fair rule expressed by piecewise linear objective functions. This scheme is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model, preparing a database identifying suitable paths upon each ...

A Review of Optical Routers in Photonic Networks-on-Chip: A Literature Survey

Due to the increasing growth of processing cores in complex computational systems, all the connection converted bottleneck for all systems. With the protection of progressing and constructing complex photonic connection on chip, optical data transmission is the best choice for replacing with electrical interconnection for the reason of gathering connection with a high bandwidth and insertion lo...

A parametric Linear Programming Model Describing Bandwidth Sharing Policies for ABR Traffic

We consider the fair bandwidth allocation problem of ABR calls by a Connection Admission Controller (CAC) at call setup. Its general solution is given by applying the “max-min fairness allocation policy”. Extensions of this policy take into account the Minimum Cell Rate (MCR) and the Peak Cell Rate (PCR) traffic description parameters, which are essential for ABR. These extensions are distingui...

Stability of Data Networks: Stationary and Bursty Models

This paper studies stability of network models that capture macroscopic features of data communication networks including the Internet. The network model consists of a set of links and a set of possible routes which are fixed subsets of links. A connection is dynamically established along one of the routes to transmit data as requested, and terminated after the transmission is over. The transmi...

Adaptive CSFQ: A New Fair Queuing Mechanism for SCORE Networks

In stateless core (SCORE) networks, edge routers maintain per-flow state while core routers do not. Core stateless fair queuing (CSFQ) has been proposed for approximating the operation of per-flow queuing techniques in SCORE networks. However, the packet dropping probability offered by CSFQ suits only UDP flows. Thus, CSFQ cannot achieve fair bandwidth allocation for TCP flows. This paper propo...
